Assistance to Married Soldiers

Family Allowances

Married soldiers in regular service (based on the period of service as determined by the IDF) may receive a family allowance depending on the family income and specific conditions, for example:

The soldier has a child or his wife is at least 32 weeks pregnant - full family allowance from the IDF regardless of income.

The soldier's wife is over 14 weeks pregnant - the family will receive this allowance based on their income.

The soldier's wife is a student - studied at least one year prior to their marriage and continues to study in the same program for at least 16 hours weekly.

The allowance is conditional on the family's income.

Monthly Allowance from the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption

Children of immigrants and married immigrant soldiers are entitled to additional financial assistance from the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption, after they receive approval from the I.D.F. for the family allowance.

Housing Assistance

The I.D.F. offers assistance with housing and household costs.
An immigrant soldier may also receive help with rent from the Ministry of Housing, for the duration of his military service. He must first contact a mortgage bank and request a Certificate of Eligibility  (if he does not have a valid one).

The required documents:
Immigrant certificate that includes details of all housing assistance given to the family by the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption in addition to approval of army service

Rental contract with stamps affixed according to law.

Special Assistance Fund

A married soldier with financial difficulties may request a loan from one of the special funds, via the Service Terms NCO on his base.

Grant for Marriage

A soldier who got married during his mandatory service is entitled to receive from the IDF a one-time grant equivalent to a private's salary that is automatically included in his salary.

Grant for the Birth of a Child During Army Service

A one-time grant of the sum of a private's salary will be given to a soldier on the birth of his child. The soldier must ensure that the change in his status is registered in his personal documents.

Leave

A soldier who marries during his army service is entitled to a 10-day leave, which will be deducted from his regular leave.

Following the birth of his child the soldier is entitled to an 8-day leave, which will also be deducted from his regular leave.

In addition to regular leave, a married soldier is entitled to request a special leave to deal with work or personal matters. The request must be approved by his commanding officer.
