a. Counseling and Referral to a Suitable Ulpan
The coordinator of the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption will give the immigrant information on ulpanim in his area and refer him to a suitable one.
b. Funding of Ulpan Studies
The new immigrant is entitled to an exemption from tuition fees.
c. Funding of Living Costs for New Immigrants
Immigrants who get the "absorption basket" and income assurance during their ulpan studies receive it within the 'basket'.
Immigrants who are beginning to study in an ulpan after the basket period has ended will be entitled to an exemption from tuition fees only.
If the period of studies in ulpan was 'extended for reasons not dependent on the immigrant' such as a strike or postponement of the opening of the immigrant, unusual family events or illness, the immigrant will be entitled to an extension in the period of assistance in income assurance and/or travel expenses for the additional months, as long as studies began within two months from the day the individual received immigrant status and as long as one year had not passed since the day they received immigrant status.
d. Travel Costs
Immigrants who receive the "absorption basket" receive their travel costs included in this amount.
Immigrants who do not receive the "absorption basket" might have their travel costs refunded if the ulpan is out of their residential area and there is no ulpan in the vicinity.
