Tuition grant
The Student Authority offers tuition grants for up to three years for undergraduate studies, including the pre-academic (Mechina) program, and
or for graduate studies, including a supplementary year if required. This grant is for tuition fees only, and is not dependent on the student's financial or family situation.
Please note:The tuition fees in certain programs or institutions may be higher than the regular university tuition fees.
The Student Authority only pays the equivalent of regular university tuition fees.
Requirements:
The grant is dependent on the student's academic achievements. Students will not receive the grant for a year repeated, either due to failure, or for changing of study programs.
During the student's third year of studies he must fulfill four weekly hours of volunteer community work throughout the year.
The grant is given for one academic degree only.
The grant will not be given for repeated degrees in different fields, whether obtained in Israel or abroad.
The grant is not given for Ph.D. studies.(Who can receive assistance through the Dept. for Absorption in Science).
Tuition Assistance for English as a Foreign Language Courses
Assistance for English courses is allocated based on need. The level of assistance may not exceed 30% of the annual cost of university tuition.
Additional Expenses
As mentioned, the Student Authority grant is for tuition fees only. Other expenses, including personal costs, household, housing, academic expenses, such as registration, books, library, laboratory, etc., are not covered by the grant.
Tuition fees over and above the three years covered by the Student Authority have to be paid by the student. Tuition loans are available.
Loans
1. Tuition loans:
This loan is offered to students who have used their Student Authority grant but have not completed their B.A. studies. This loan is given only for the completion of studies in the same department.
2. Financial loans:
These loans are offered to needy students who have financial difficulties and cannot support themselves during their studies. Additional loans are for purchasing of study equipment, housing expenses, personal expenses, etc.
Terms of the Loan
A. Tuition Loan:
Up to NIS 5,000 (to date of publication), and not more than 60% of full tuition fees.
Two financially stable guarantors are required. One may be a spouse, parent, etc.
The loan carries no interest and is linked to the COL index.
How can one get the loan?
1. Fill in an application form at the Student Authority.
2. Attach authorization of studies and payment of first tuition installment.
B. Financial Loan:
up to NIS 2,500 (to date of publication)
Two guarantors are required. One must prove financial stability.

Terms of Repayment
Repayment will begin within one year of completion of regular studies. Payment will be made every month for 18 months.
Note:
Army service delays the period of repayment. The student must inform the Idud company, responsible for the loans, of his enlistment into the I.D.F. (delay is until discharge).
Housing
The Student Authority tries to help all students in pre-academic programs and during their first year of studies find housing in the student dormitories. Priority is given to students whose parents live abroad. The students must pay subsidized rent.
Assistance with Rental Fees
Every "lone" immigrant is entitled to assistance with rental fees for four years from immigration, on condition that he has his own immigration certificate (teudat oleh). For additional information see "Housing", assistance with rental fees.
Cultural and Social Activities
Groups of counselors who work at the educational institutions and student dormitories organize cultural activities, outings to theaters, concerts and shows. The Student Authority organizes seminars on Zionism and current affairs, and trips that emphasize the history and nature of Israel.
