Within the framework of a national project for the development of hi-tech in Jerusalem, a new program has opened that is designed to prepare immigrant students for higher education studies in hi-tech and scientific professions. The program is held at Hadassah Academic College in Jerusalem, under the supervision of the Student Authority.
Emphasis is placed on the following disciplines: mathematics, computers, Hebrew, English, and preparation for the Psychometric Exam. At the conclusion of the preparatory program the student can integrate into studies at the College or at other academic institutions in Jerusalem.
In addition to academic studies, the program includes lectures on hi-tech subjects, tours to various industries, trips around Jerusalem, and social and cultural activities.
Who is Eligible?
Students who have completed at least one year of academic study overseas in one of the above disciplines.
High school graduates with high grades in mathematics and physics, who plan to study in an institution that does not require immigrant students to study in a pre-academic mechina preparatory program.
Students with a bachelor's degree in scientific or technical disciplines, who wish to continue on to a master's degree at a university.
Conditions of Acceptance
The applicant must meet all conditions of eligibility for Student Authority assistance.
Successful completion of a mathematics exam.
Successful completion of a Hebrew placement exam (minimum of level "bet").
Candidates must pass acceptance exams in Hebrew and mathematics. A placement exam in English is given at the beginning of the program.
Opening Dates of the Program
The program opens twice a year (January/February and July/August) and lasts for five months.
A five-month ulpan before the commencement of the Hi-Tech program is offered at Ulpan Etzion or other locations.
Accommodations
Students reside in Jewish Agency dormitories in Jerusalem's Ramat Beit Hakerem for the entire duration of the program, including the period of ulpan study at Ulpan Etzion.
Student Authority Assistance
The program is financed by the Student Authority, and is not considered as one of the 3 years of tuition subsidy assistance.
Guidance, counseling, and information regarding the continuation of studies are offered throughout the period of the program.
Social and cultural events are arranged throughout the study period.
Students' Responsibilities
Students are responsible for covering their own personal expenditures, as well as fees for the Psychometric Preparatory Course (NIS 450).
