Employment guidance
The Employment Guidance Centers are intended for new immigrants and returning residents who are not currently working in their profession, or in fields related to their profession. The goal is to assist new immigrants and returning residents to integrate into the workforce by providing the tools for finding a job, or by reinforcing professional skills when necessary and according to the recommendations of the Centers’ professional staff.
In order to achieve these goals, the Employment Guidance Centers provide the following services:
- Counseling and diagnostic services
- Professional Hebrew terminology
- Job placement
- Computer or English refresher courses
Who is eligible for acceptance to an Employment Guidance Center?
- Persons with 12 years of education
- Women and men of working age with a profession
- Persons who have passed a Hebrew-language proficiency test
- Persons who have been accepted by an admissions committee
What is the period of eligibility?
Returning residents are eligible for up to two years from the date of return to Israel.
Note!
- Returning residents may receive services from an Employment Guidance Center once only during the period of eligibility.
- The period of services from an Employment Guidance Center may not exceed 90 actual study days.
- Returning residents receiving services from an Employment Guidance Center may be able to receive assured income assistance in accordance with their personal eligibility: see Assured Income
Who is authorized to refer returning residents to an Employment Guidance Center?
- Referrals may be made by placement counselors at Academic Employment Guidance Centers and by vocational advisers at the National Employment Service bureaus.
- Referrals may also be made by directors of vocational absorption departments and employment coordinators at Ministry of Immigrant Absorption offices.
What is the acceptance process?
Acceptance at the guidance center depends on:
- An employment interview
- A Hebrew test
- A psycho-technical examination
