Manifest – Employment of a Scientist

Manifest – Filing of Proposals to Employ an Immigrant  Scientist / Returning Resident Scientist as a Scientist in a Biotechnology Company in the Negev and the Galilee

The Ministry of Immigrant Absorption invites biotech companies that conduct research and are located in the Negev and the Galilee to submit proposals to employ researchers who meet one of the following criteria:

An immigrant scientist who has a Ph.D. in life sciences, and for whom the date of immigration to Israel has not exceeded 9 months by the day of the filling of the application.
A returning resident who has a Ph.D. in the life sciences, and for whom the date of return to Israel has not exceeded 3 months by the day of the filing of the application (preference will be given to Israelis who lived overseas for over 5 years).

The Ministry of Immigrant Absorption will assist any company that will absorb in 2008 (but no later than October 15) a scientist who meets the aforementioned criteria.

The assistance will be given to the employing institution, with Ministry participating in some of the costs of employing the scientist as researcher.
The sum of said assistance is established at NIS 150,000 a year, and for three years as long as this sum will comprise, at maximum, half of the full cost of scientist's employment.

The program is individually competitive and the number of positions is limited to 7.

The proposals will be graded based on the excellence of the research proposal, candidate suitability to conduct the research and an assessment of the company's chances to continue to employ the scientist at the end of the assistance period.

Preference will be given to the proposal in which the candidate will be absorbed as someone who is spearheading his personal venture or as a project leader.

The submitted proposals will be judged via professional outside consultation to be ordered by the Ministry.

The proposals must be submitted in four copies, printed on the attached forms.

If the research proposal in which the scientist will be integrated was reviewed in the past by an official entity, test results of said entity should be attached.

Should the project that will incorporate the scientist receive a budget from another government source, the costs of employing the scientists should not be included in the costs submitted for said financing from that government authority.

The proposals must be submitted to the Center for Absorption in the Sciences Secretariat (2 Kaplan Street, Jerusalem 91950) no later than May 29, 2008 at 14:00.
