Assured income grant
In order to ensure the family's wellbeing on their return to Israel, the Government grants job-seeking returning residents an assured income during the first year following return. The grant is given to those reporting personally to the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption or to the Employment Service.
The period of eligibility for assured income is up to three months.
The duty to report personally applies to both spouses, unless indicated otherwise by Ministry of Immigrant Absorption regulations.
If one spouse is exempt from reporting personally, they must present appropriate authorization. If one spouse is employed, the family is not eligible for an assured income grant. If the working spouse is earning minimum wage, they may apply to the National Insurance Institute to check the possibility of receiving an income supplement.
If one spouse in a family arrives in Israel prior to the other, that spouse will not be eligible for assured income unless they submit proof of the inability of the spouse who remained abroad to support the family.
Proof can be in the form of a declaration in an Israeli court, made by the returning spouse, that the spouse who remained abroad is unable to support him/her. The returning spouse must also present authorization that the spouse who remained abroad agreed to the removal of their children to Israel.
It is recommended that you report to the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption at the beginning of the month, in order to receive payment for a full month.
One who reports later in a month only receives partial payment for the month in proportion to the date of reporting. A partial month is counted as one of the three months of eligibility.
The payment is transferred directly to the eligible recipient’s bank account in their name only.
