The Employment Guidance Centers are intended for new immigrants and returning residents who are not currently working in their professions or in fields close to their professions.
The goal is to assist new immigrants and returning residents to integrate into the work force by providing the tools for finding a job or by reinforcing professional skills when necessary and according to the recommendations of the Centers’ professional staff.
In order to achieve this goals, the Guidance Centers provide the following services:
Counseling and diagnostic services.
Professional Hebrew and terminology.
Job placement.
Refresher courses in professional computer terminology or English.
Who is eligible for acceptance to a Vocational Guidance Center?
Those with 12 years of education.
Men and women of working age with a profession.
Those who have passed a Hebrew-language proficiency test.
Those who have been accepted by an admittance committee.
When is the Period of Eligibility?
New immigrants – 10 years from the date of aliyah.
Returning residents – 2 years from the date of return to Israel.
Ethiopian immigrants- 15 years from the date of aliyah.
Take Note!
New immigrants may receive services from an Employment Guidance Center once only during the period of eligibility.
The period of services from an Employment Guidance Center may not exceed 90 study days.
Recipients of services from an Employment Guidance Center may be able to receive Assured Income assistance in accordance with their personal eligibility. See the section on Financial Assistance, Income Insurance.
Who is authorized to refer candidates to an Employment Guidance Center?
Referrals may be made by placement clerks at the National Employment Service bureaus.
Referrals may also be made by directors of Vocational Absorption departments and employment coordinators at local National Employment service offices.
What is involved in the acceptance process?
Acceptance at the Guidance Center depends on:

A Psychotechniocal examination
